Professional Experience
Prior to his public appointment, Mr. Gan practised corporate commercial, property, and banking laws for 20 years, demonstrating his expertise in these areas. Under his able leadership, he has steered the Firm into an exponential growth with a strong presence across Malaysia.
In June 2010, Mr. Gan was appointed as a Senator and a Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia, where he served with distinction until May 2013. He resumed his legal practice in August 2013, focusing on corporate commercial and public administrative laws, with a particular emphasis on governmental regulatory advisory work.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gan has demonstrated an unwavering passion and commitment to serving the public. He has held public postings as a municipal councillor, a member of a statutory board, and an elected State Assemblyman in Johor. He currently serves as a Member of the National Consultative Committee on Political Financing under the Malaysian Prime Minister's Department and is also a co-president of CENBET, a civil society organization promoting moderation and good governance. He also serves as a legal advisor to numerous NGOs and associations.
Mr. Gan is an accomplished scholar, having graduated from QMC University of London in 1989. He was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1990 and subsequently obtained his post-graduate Diploma in Syariah Law from the International Islamic University of Malaysia and his LLM from the University of Malaya.
